Chronicles
I don't believe that it has been a month since I last wrote something here! Well quite a lot has happened in this last month and I am not just talking about the bombings in London or the recent pull out(rather push out) of the settlers in Gaza. I am talking about the fact that my project went live and that I got sent off to Tokyo for support. Thats where I am at the moment. I have had quite a time here so far (been here a week and am staying another week). been walking around the town on my own which is a lot of fun and sometime boring cause I want to be able to share all the new things that I am experiencing with everyone I know... at least those people I know that will care to listen! Like all the new food that I have literally been cooking myself and eating (cause thats they way the do it in several restaraunts. You go in and sit at the table that has a stove on it and you cook your meat and eat it! - that way you can choose how well done you want it!) This last weekend I went to this place called Kamakura which is an hour away from here (I can't say whether it is in Tokyo or outside). It was VERY VERY hot but I managed to walk around quite a bit. Made the mistake of following some japanese lady tourists and they did not know where they were going either, so retraced my steps for a good 20 minutes before I decided to follow some other tourists. Figured out that the place was littered with Shrines and temples all over the place. They were quite nice, specially those that were surrounded by forest area. That was most peaceful (and cooling).
Sunday was spent walking around Tokyo. Went to the Shinjuku area which is like one of the major shopping/entertainment areas. Plenty of shops - walked into one dept store called Isitan. Was trying to buy something for Pallavi and I did like something. It was very very expensive - try $300. Finally when I saw a small cyan tee shirt that was priced at $93 I decided to leave the shop cause there was no way there was anything there that was affordable. I then stumbled onto an underground shopping center that had much more affordable prices though things were still expensive (easily $60 -$80 for tops and stuff). Since I had already been to the electronics part of the city earlier in the week I just went home after that!
But it was exciting. I stil have to go seen the Imperial Palace and the beautiful gardens that surround it. That is not too far away from the Hotel I am staying at (New Otani). Actually the Hotel itself has some beautiful gardens that I want to take a walk in. One of these evenings I will... when it is not boiling hot!
